- How old is Sinker Cypress?
These logs were cut and floated down rivers from 1880 to 1920. The trees cut were anywhere from 150 to 1500 years old.
That would make the youngest logs about 237 years old.
- Why should you use Sinker Cypress?
Due to the age of the trees cut the growth rings are much closer; which allows more stability. All of the sap wood has already disintegrated off of the log leaving all heart wood with a high cypresseine concentration which makes this wood to be durable and excellent for outdoor use.
- What can Sinker Cypress be used for?

Rough sawn is lumber that has been band sawn and has rough texture.
- What does planed lumber mean?
Planed lumber is rough sawn lumber that has been ran through a planer, therefore creating a smooth surface on face and bottom so that the lumber can be sanded to the finished size.
- What does gang ripped mean?
Gang ripped is when a circular saw rips both sides of the board to a specific dimension.
- How is board footage calculated?
Board foot is a measurement of volume.
144 cubic inches = 1 board foot
1 board foot = 12” long by 12” Wide by 1” thick
- How is square foot calculated?
Square foot is a measurement of area.
Width X’s Length = area
- How is linear foot calculated?
Linear foot is a measurement of length.
Example: 2 pieces 16’ long = 32 lft.
- How do I place an order?
Call with your list of specifications. We will fax you an order form with your order specifications, price break down, freight rate, and total. Sign and fax us the order form with a copy of your completed check for the deposit made payable to Sinker Treasures. Order Deposit shall consist of 50% of total amount. The remainder will be due when order is complete. At the time of full payment your order will be shipped to your location by LTL carrier. We will fax you a receipt once the deposit payment is processed and once again when paid in full. Minimum order is $1,000.00
- How will Sinker Treasures ship your order?
Most orders less than 8000 lbs are shipped by LTL carriers in an enclosed trailer. Generally, shipping charges start at $300.00, depending on distance, size, and weight of your order. Each order will be quoted individually and listed on your order form. Weight of Sinker Cypress is 5lbs per board foot (wet).
We have relationships with Sinker Cypress Mills along the Southern Coast which will enable us to provide the most availability and lower shipping costs.
